SATAT Scheme

The SATAT Scheme (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) is a Government of India initiative launched by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas to promote the production and use of Compressed Biogas (CBG) as a clean fuel alternative for the transport sector. This initiative supports India’s shift towards a circular economy by converting agricultural waste, cattle dung, municipal solid waste, and other organic materials into valuable green energy.

• Target: Setup of 5,000 CBG plants across India

• Fuel Focus: Production of Compressed Biogas (CBG) for transport and industrial use

• Buy-Back Assurance: Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) like IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL provide Letters of Intent (LOIs) to purchase CBG
