Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit business identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It is mandatory for anyone engaged in import or export of goods and services from India.

Documents Required:

  • PAN Card of the applicant entity

  • Address proof of the business (electricity bill, lease agreement, etc.)

  • Cancelled cheque / bank certificate

  • Digital signature (DSC) in case of company or LLP

  • Photograph and KYC of authorized signatory

Exemptions:

IEC is not required when:

  • Import/export is for personal use

  • Services are exported without claiming any benefits

  • Activities fall under specific government exemption notifications
