The Authorized Dealer Code (AD Code) is a 14-digit numerical code issued by your bank, authorized by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and linked to your Import Export Code (IEC). It is mandatory for all exporters in India to register their AD Code with the customs department through the ICEGATE portal to enable export shipment clearance and to receive foreign currency payments.
Why is AD Code Registration Important?
✅ Mandatory for Export Shipments
Without a registered AD Code at the port of export, shipping bills cannot be generated on ICEGATE.
✅ Enables Foreign Currency Inflows
It ensures proper routing of export payments through your bank.
✅ Required for Duty Drawback & Incentives
Government benefits like MEIS, RoDTEP, and Duty Drawback are credited only to the bank linked via AD Code.
✅ Port-wise Registration
The AD Code must be registered with customs at every port you plan to export from.
To register your AD Code with ICEGATE and Customs, you’ll need:
Import Export Code (IEC)
GST Registration Certificate
Letter from Bank containing AD Code (on official letterhead)
PAN Card of the business
Authorized Signatory’s DSC (Digital Signature)
