APEDA Scheme

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Established in 1986, it supports the promotion and development of scheduled agri and processed food products for export.

Export Assistance Components

1. Infrastructure Development

Financial assistance is provided for:

  • Integrated packhouses

  • Cold chain equipment and reefer vehicles

  • Processing and value-addition units

  • Banana cable handling and pre-cooling units
    Up to 40% of the eligible project cost is covered, with limits applicable per activity.

2. Quality Development

Support for:

  • Testing lab equipment and machinery

  • Global certifications (HACCP, ISO, BRC, GAP)

  • Food safety and quality assurance systems

  • Traceability software, barcode/RFID systems
    Assistance ranges from 50% to specific financial caps based on activity type.

3. Market Development

Reimbursement for:

  • Trial shipments of fresh produce

  • Feasibility and market research studies

  • Participation in global trade fairs and expos

  • International brand registration and publicity

  • Buyer-seller meets and promotional campaigns

Eligibility & Registration

Exporters of scheduled products must:

  • Obtain an APEDA Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC)

  • Submit documents such as IEC, bank certificate, and manufacturing/FSSAI license

  • Complete registration within one month of commencing exports

Financial Limits

  • Total assistance across all components may be capped per exporter

  • Enhanced support may be available for units in northeastern and hilly states

  • Claims are reimbursed after verification and compliance
